Lakes of Ohio

Ohio can be called the land of lakes and these beautiful lakes make the place a paradise on earth. Let us take a look at some of the prominent lakes of Ohio. The Houston Woods State Park is an artificial lake of about 625 acres and is located in the Butler and Preble counties of Ohio, United States of America. The Alum Creek Lake is one of the most significant lakes of Ohio. This is also an artificial water reservoir which was built in 1974. It is also a great tourist attraction in Ohio because of its mesmerizing scenic beauty.

Alum Creek Dam was constructed on the lake in 1974. Bailey Lakes is an important lake of Ohio as the Vermilion River begins its course from there. The Brady Lake is named after the name of the captain Samuel Brady because in 1780 he hid in that lake to save himself from a group of local Indians.

The list of lakes of Ohio is surely an unending one. But we can focus on some of the major ones like Caesar Creek State Park, Charles Mill Lake, Chippewa Lake, Lake Erie, Grand Lake St. Mary's, Meyers Lake, Silver Lake and Lake Waynoka.



The Caesar Creek State Park is located at the south western part of Ohio. The lake spreads over of 7, 941 acres. The Charles Mill is a famous lake of Ohio located at the central part of Ohio. You can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking and biking at the quite lake of Charles Mill. And, Lake Erie is the tenth largest lake on earth. Here you will find impressive growth of crops by the side of the lake especially in the bordering areas of New York, Pennsylvania, Ontario and Ohio.
