It is believed that Ohio's geographical location has facilitated the economic growth of Ohio. The geography in Ohio has proved to be really beneficial as it connects the Northeast to the Midwest. Lake Erie provides a 502 km of coastline to Ohio in the north and in the south Ohio is bordered by the Ohio River. The neighboring states of Ohio are Pennsylvania in the east, Indiana in the west, West Virginia on the southeast, Michigan at the northwest, Ontario in the north and Kentucky in the south.

Ohio is at times identified as the land of lakes. Most of the canals got destroyed by flood attacks but it would be difficult to ignore their historical significances.
