Talking of the airports in Dayton City, Ohio, James M. Cox Dayton International Airport is the only one in Dayton. It is also known as Dayton International Airport, which is most commonly used for references. This is a public airport which is around nine miles to the northern region of Dayton in Montgomery County, Ohio. It was founded in the year, 1936. A report says, that James M. Cox Dayton International Airport handled 1, 44,673 passengers in the year 2004.

Previously, this airport, the only one among the Airports in Dayton city, Ohio, was a hub of Piedmont Airlines. But after its merge with USAir, it has cancelled some of the long routes to San Francisco, Los Angeles, to Dallas and Floridian cities. Dayton City is treated as a Midwest focus city by US Airways, the successor of US Air, and has routes to some cities, namely, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Boston, Charlotte, Washington D. C., New York City, Pittsburgh and Columbus.
More numbers of airlines are catering to Dayton International Airport in recent years, mostly for low fare carriers. Frontier Airlines and Air Tran Airways have become important competitors to the old carrier companies. Independence Air and ATA Airlines also used to serve Dayton till quite recently.
There are expansion rooms with lot of open gates at the Dayton International Airport. Entire Concourse D was used by USAir and Piedmont Airlines for mini-hub operations.
This airport is a well known one among the airline crew members and pilots for the excellent quality popcorn, available in the terminal, which is really famous.
Taxicab service is there at airport curbside for ground transportation. The cab services known for providing good transportation across the metro area of Dayton are, Airport Checker Cab, Liberty Cab and Dayton Checker Cab.
Delta Airlines, Midwest airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Express, Continental Express, Frontier airlines, US Airways Express, are some of the airlines which operate over here.
